1. Justice Monologue #2  
  • Rough draft for peer critiques due Tuesday, 10/27
  • Final draft is due at 10:00 am on Friday,10/30-- put your youtube link and google doc link on this spreadsheet
  • By NOON on Friday, 10/30, watch 5 student videos and give them some love!

2. Senior Project Research Phase 2
  1. Did you take this survey after your senior project discussions on Thur. 10/22? If not, please take it ASAP.
  2. See pages 2-3 of the above linked document for Phase 2 guidelines
  3. Sign up for a teacher to conference with sometime BEFORE Thanksgiving break
  4. Email them to schedule the conference!
  5. Make the calendar invitation and send it to the teacher for your conference appointment
  6. Complete the Phase 2 research prior to  your conference

3. November Conference with Ashley: Calendar to Sign up and Conference questions
  • I would like to conference with all of my students at some point before Thanksgiving break, even if you are meeting with another teacher for senior project conferences.  Please sign up on the above linked document, follow the instructions listed there and then come prepared with your answers to the conference prep questions listed on page 2 of the conference schedule linked above.

1. Late: Bears Ears Summit Notes! (turn into google classroom)

2. Terry Tempest Williams’ critique activity: Due by 11:59pm on Monday, 10/19 in google classroom!

3. Justice Monologue #2  
  • Pick a case study and begin outlining by Thursday, 10/22
  • Rough draft for peer critiques due Tuesday, 10/27
  • Final draft and delivery: Thursday, 10/29

4. Senior Project brainstorming Phase 1 Due this Thursday, Oct. 22nd (write this in your planner or calendar!)

5.  Flex/Sven Schedule 
  • Starting the week of 10/22, we'll be asking those students who are currently not passing Stats of Humanities to stay for Sven until they've made up missing work.

6. Sally Jewell’s prep work: Please consider taking a look at the following two sources.  This is a request from Sally herself, who emailed me: “In advance of my participation in your class, there are two items I’d like to strongly encourage all your students to read/watch:”
  1. The Proclamation signed by President Obama, creating Bears Ears National Monument: 
  2. A recent film “Public Trust” that has won awards at multiple film festivals over the summer (length – 1:38, so fairly long), and includes multiple references to Bears Ears and its formation.

ALL STUDENTS, please NOTE THIS CHANGE: in your reading packets, I assigned a speech by Rachel Carson for Tuesday, 10/13. We'll read this NEXT week instead. Hang onto your reading packets! 

 
Due Friday, 10/16 start of class: Your completed readings and notes for your assigned Bears Ears perspectives for our Bears Ears Monument Stakeholder Summit: Diverse Perspectives on Bears Ears National Monument   (readings are available electronically on the linked assignment handout). Turn your completed notes into GOOGLE CLASSROOM on Friday before class.

Have you signed up for an A's and C's of Humanities Conference with me yet?  If no, do that now! If yes, make sure you know when you are going and prepare thoroughly ahead of time!

Due Tuesday, 10/6: 
 “Environmental Ethics: An Introduction to Environmental Philosophy” by Joseph Dejardins 

Due Thursday, 10/8: Justice Monologue Make-ups
  • Owen Isenberg, Patrick Thornton, Xavier Tyler, Kandice Marquez, Ainsley Haggart, Sara O'Kane, Chris Piel, Molly Poitras

Due Monday, 10/12: HONORS ONLY-- Read “The Land Ethic” by Aldo Leopold and come to discussion with one passage you would like to discuss as a group, and any questions/confusions you have.

Due Friday, 10/9: Read  Indigenous Cultures, Indigenous Places by Jacqueline Keeler  and reply to the two questions I posted on our GOOGLE CLASSROOM stream!
  • You'll need to "download" and then re-open this document and then you can rotate it to view it horizontally. I'll also print hard copies and hand those out on Thursday, 10/8 in class.
