CLASS BIZ:
  • Trout Unlimited volunteer opportunity (see the blog post below this one)
  • Library day tomorrow- 9:00-11:45 am!
  • If you think you are ready to start writing your paper, meet with Lori in a study room at the library to go over guidelines at 10 am tomorrow!
  • Deep Reading Redo:  If you received less than a 3 in any rubric category, you must redo that piece of the assignment.  Redone sections are due on FRIDAY at the start of class.
  • Email me your annotated bibliography for 5 sources

STARTER 7
 “You shall no longer take things at second or third hand, not look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books. You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me, you shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself.” 
― Walt Whitman, Song of Myself

--> Spend 15 minutes responding to the above quote from Walt Whitman's poem, "Song of Myself". Questions to consider include:
  • What does it mean?  (Interpret it)
  • Why would he write "from yourself" instead of "for yourself" in the last line?
  • Have you done enough research now that you can indeed know all sides and then filter them from yourself? How about FOR yourself?
  •  What research do you need to do to fill the gaps in your knowledge on your subject?
  • What questions do you have?

WORK TIME
  1. Goal 1:  Conference with Ashley about first 5 sources in annotated bibliography
  2. Goal 2:  Complete reading notes for 6 sources.  Done with this?  KEEP WORKING!  Get ahead!  Trust me, you'll need the extra time to write and the more research you do, the better your writing will be and the easier the writing process will be.  :)
