How to Make a PowerPoint that Doesn't Suck
  1. Split into groups of 4 .  Choose a facilitator!
  2. Complete the handout I give you (also linked above).  Follow the directions, please!  Don't skimp on this- it is actually really helpful in framing your thinking for the task ahead of you.
  3. Power point Examples are at this link!
  4. Final step here is brainstorming slides images/designs for you particular presentation

  • Make sure you have LINKED evidence under "Accomplishments" category of Resilience Project rubric
  • Give yourself an actual GRADE (out of 10) for each category on the Resilience Project rubric.

POL  Schedule:
  • We made some mistakes yesterday. My students need to only panel in my room. Lori's in her room. If your name is NOT on this list for either a presentation or 2 different days of paneling, please sign back up.  And please spread yourselves out more!!! We need 4-5 students in each panel block.
  • I need some people to switch to panel on Wed. block 2 12/19 and Thursday both blocks 12/20!!! If some of y'all don't switch, I'll randomly switch people.
  • Lu- I signed up up for panel spots. You need to sign up for a presentation on a DIFFERENT day than the days you're paneling.

Inspiration! Action Project Inspiration from class of 2018
Pick 2-3 of the following model projects listed below then answer the questions further down. Ideally the projects you choose should be most related to the type of action project you’re considering or at least just sounds interesting. On the linked website above, find the student’s name, read about the student’s project description and the title of their thesis paper (read the abstract if you want/have time). Watch any videos that may be there.

  3. What questions do you have about the projects-- think about the process the students had to go through, not just the actual final product.

  2. Share where you are with members of your group, have a quick discussion about each person’s ideas.  (This should take about 15 minutes or so)
  3. Share out some cool ideas from your group with the class- call someone out for their awesome research question or project idea

​Critique Protocol
  1. Write research question and project idea on a piece of paper.  Hang it on the wall, or put it on a desk.
  2. Go around with post it notes.  You need to comment on at least 5 other projects, but if you have time, do more than 5.  Use the whole 20 minutes that’s given. Post its can…
    1. Ask questions
    2. Share critical feedback
    3. Suggest revisions/changes
    4. Call out strengths
  3. Grab your project paper and feedback.  Sit down. On back of paper, write a 5 minute reflection on the feedback you were given, and where you think you need to go with your research question and your project idea.
  4. Get into groups of 5 or 6.  Share your reflections with each other.

Work Time!
  1. Senior Project TPS Report (DUE Monday, beginning of class)
  2. If you’re solid with your ideas, start work on your presentation and slides

    1. Sign up for a conference with Ashley
    2. Get together with a group of other students and brainstorm/bounce ideas

POL Prep and Frameworks
All documents related to your POL will be linked on the SENIOR PROJECT page of my DP, in the "Semester 1- What the hell am I doing, anyway?" section.
  1. POL Overview and Schedule: This document outlines what you need to include in your presentation, the critique process, what you need to do to pass, and other requirements.  Review the requirements, frameworks, and sign up for ONE presentation time spot, and TWO paneling time spots.  You may not panel on the day you present, and your paneling must be done on two different days.  No more that 7 people per paneling time.
  2. POL Prep Calendar:  This gives you an overview of our preparation process for the next few weeks.  Check here if you want to know what we're doing in class, and what your daily goals are.

​Resilience Project Work Time
  1. Review your tasks/deliverables as a group. Go around in a circle and each person needs to report out on what they've done thus far and what they need to do by the end of tomorrow.
  2. Get to work on your Resilience Project task items
  3. I'll be checking in with Promotion and Publications on their status as well as how much work time you need when we get back from break as well as who wants to take on the following exhibition prep roles:
