Graduation Week!  Exhibition Prep!

5/20/2019

This blog post has everything you'll need to wrap up senior project and prepare for exit interviews! We'll go over all of this as a cohort at the start of class on Monday.
  1. Letter from Evan Roth with important links for Powerhouse stuff
  2. Exit Interview Schedule
  3. How to Prep for Exit Interviews
  4. When is Senior Celebration? Tuesday, 5-7:30 at the Powerhouse
  5. Y'all need to be set up by 3pm at Powerhouse tomorrow so we can make sure everyone is dialed and that gives you enough time to run home/to Ace Hardware, etc... to get last minute items.
  6. If you want, you can head over today after cohort (11:30) to look at your space at Powerhouse)

Other important dates/times for the week
  • Thursday, 6-8pm at AHS: Senior Supper
  • Thursday, 2:40-3:25 at AHS: Senior Impersonations
  • Graduation Rehearsal: Friday, 8:30-10:30 at Community Concert Hall
  • Friday: 4pm Graduation!

Today's Work Time Goals
  • Complete the final weekly reflection
  • Finish your project/exhibition set-up
  • Begin your exit interview reflection (32F)
  • Discuss your plan for exhibition one more time w/ a small group/partner.  Discuss these three questions:
  1. How can you convey the scope and purpose of your project at exhibition without needing to verbally explain it?
  2. If you were a member of the audience what would draw you in for more information?
  3. What questions do you anticipate from the audience?

Monday, May 20th: Day before exhibition!

Agenda
  • Finalize your work for tomorrow's exhibition
  • Conference with Ashley if needed
  • Prep for Exit Interviews (see below)
  • Head to the Powerhouse at 11:45
Exit Interview Format
  1. Time:  Interviews will be scheduled in 15 minute intervals.
  2. Participants:  Interviews will be conducted by your Senior Project Cohort leader and at least one other senior team teacher.
  3. Preparation:
    1. 3-2-F:  Be prepared to speak to the following:
      1. 3 aspects of your project you’d like to celebrate
      2. 2 areas of growth you or your project need
      3. 1 piece of FEEDBACK about the structure of senior project
    2. Evidence: Please bring evidence to showcase the quality of your work and to prove that you demonstrated fidelity to your Personal Assessment Plan (PAP).
    3. Additional questions we may ask are listed below.
  4. Dress:  No need to go full Exhibition dress, but please dress somewhat nicely for these.  Look professional!
Passing Determination:  At the end of the interview, we will determine whether or not you pass your senior project.  If you do not pass, we will work together to determine a plan forward.

Potential Questions:
  1. Are you proud of the work you did on this project?  Why/why not? Get specific.
  2. What is the best thing about your senior project?  What is the worst thing about your project?
  3. What did you hope to accomplish with this project?  How successful were you at meeting your goals for this project?
  4. What significant challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
  5. How did your project extend the understanding of your content?  If it didn’t, why not?
  6. What have you learned from this process that you can apply to future work?
  7. If you were going to do this project over again, what would you do differently in design and/or execution?
  8. What’s one piece of advice you would give to next year’s seniors about senior project?
  9. What advice do you have for the senior team in setting up projects for success?

Monday, May 13th: Last FULL week before Senior Celebration

5/13/2019

Starter: Exhibition Presentation Brainstorm
  • Ashley will first talk about Caeley and Owen's presentation ideas
  • Now you need to come up with as many ideas as you can in the next 5 minutes for how you could present at Senior Celebration in an engaging/interesting/interactive/dynamic way. Write each idea down on one sticky note. Draw if you need.

Beta Testing
  1. Get up and boogie to the beat. When the music stops, find a group of 3-4 people.
  2. Share out your project pitch and then all of your presentation ideas
  3. If possible, test out 2 of your favorite on them-- like actually model the process they'd go through if you were at exhibition and they were a parent, etc...
  4. Feedback/Suggestions/Favorite idea?
  5. SWITCH

QUESTIONS TO ASK EACH OTHER
  • If you walked up to your own exhibition presentation what would make you stoked to be there/ engage you right away?
  • How can you avoid text heavy presentations?
  • How many different ways can you think of to present the fundamental concept or idea behind your project so that the audience can understand and engage with it?
  • How can you draw your audience in?
  • How can an audience member quickly understand what your project is about?
