Tuesday, 1/21- One Week Until Deep Reading Deadline

1/21/2020

Announcements and Today's Goals
  1. Library tomorrow-- be there at 9 am. You'll meet with action project focus groups if you chose to. Let's look at the general agenda for those HERE
  2. Bi-weekly student-led seminars start this week! What are they and why are we doing them?  See the Homework/Calendar page for the links to the assigned text DUE FRIDAY beginning of second Humanities period.
  3. This week's objectives are linked on the Senior Project page and Homework page. Let's review them!
  4. Today's goals are to:
  • Send SPAM 1 Email if you were gone Friday (see below)
  • Begin reading and annotating your 4th source
  • Start the "Reading Notes" from the Deep Reading assignment (let's review the template for that, eh?)
  • Complete (or begin) ONE to-do item for your senior PROJECT

Fundraising Protocols
If you are planning on doing ANY fundraising for your senior project, you MUST follow this protocol!

STARTER:
Set your intention for today's work time
FRAMING: The key to productive work time is to clear your head of all the "shoulds, woulds, coulds" that you brought into the work time space with you. Focus on the one or two things that you need to accomplish in THIS time. What is reasonable that you accomplish with regards to  your research and senior project?

STARTER TASK: Set two goals for yourself today, ideally based off of the goals I listed in the starter. Try to make them as specific and concrete as possible.  Then, estimate how much time each goal/task will take.

EXAMPLE
1. I will find an academic text on the effects of colonialism on Kenyan's system of education today. (15 minutes)
2. I will read and annotate the abstract and conclusion of that source (25 minutes)
3. Action Project: I will find and  research two non-profit organizations that do work in Sub-Saharan Africa and email their program directors about potential partnership for my action project.  (1 hour)

SPAM #1 Email (if you were gone on FRIDAY)
  • SPA Assignments
  • Go to the Senior Project page of my DP, and carefully read the Senior Project Advisor Letter 1 guidelines, and do what it tells you.  Email your SPA following these guidelines.
