Week 4 of Senior Thesis Begins!

2/3/2020

STARTER:  Thesis Statement Brainstorm
As of right now, how would you answer your research question?
  1. 30 sec each- Talk to your partner.
  2. 30 sec each - Get up, find another person from another table, talk it out.
  3. 3 min- Write down your answer in 1 sentence (remember, it's okay to have a mixed position, to not find what you were expecting, to have caveats!)
  4. 5 min- What holes do you still have in your knowledge?  What do you need to know to really answer this question?  Where do you think you will get stuck when you are writing this paper?

Announcements
  1. WEEK 4 Daily Objectives
  2. Deep Reading assignment common errors and re-do deadline (THIS FRIDAY) If you got a 2 or lower in any category, you need to refine and resubmit that specific part of the assignment.
  3. On Thursday, we will have a quiz on in-text formatting, introducing quotations and works cited formatting.  This quiz will be worth 15 points and fall in with the "interim deadlines" category.  See below for a list of websites you should use to study/review.
  4. Annotated Bibliography deadline reminder: 5 entries due THIS Wednesday. Share with me electronically by 9:15 am. (That gives you 15 minutes at the library to remember to share it with me. This message has been brought to you by Ashley the Benevolent.)
  5. Off-Campus Wednesday:  We will be meeting at the library on Wednesday from  9:00-11:50.
  6. SPAM 1- The last day I will accept these, at 50% off, is this Thursday.  Get them done and turned in!

Interviewing People for your research?  Meet with me today!
  1. Get me your interview questions for review by Thursday, 2/13
  2. Start contacting people to schedule them now!
  3. All interviews should be completed over the next two weeks so you can use them in your paper.  Feel free to schedule them during my class  (just let me know if you are going be gone for an interview).
  4. These can count as a source for your annotated bib.
  5. When writing your questions, keep them focused on what you need from the interview to answer your research question.  What are you getting from the interview that you can't get from other sources?
  6. Record the interview, and jot down times on a list of your interview questions as you go, so you can easily find quotes later.

Annotated Bibliography work time + conferences
Goal: Annotated bibliography entries for 4 sources
